The towns of Rissani and Erfoud in southeastern Morocco are known for their vibrant fossil markets. Morocco's fossil sites date back millions of years to various geological periods. The country's diverse geology, which includes mountains, deserts, and coastal areas, has preserved a wide range of fossilized remains. One of the most famous types found in Morocco are trilobites, ancient marine arthropods that lived during the Palaeozoic Era and ammonites, extinct marine molluscs with spiral shells.
